Paid Summer Work Experience (WEX) Program

Career exposure. Paid experience. Workforce preparation for young people connected to King County reengagement services.

IMPORTANT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT
Participants must be actively enrolled in a King County Reengagement Program to participate in the YouthWorks WEX Program. This includes youth connected through YouthSource, Learning Center Seattle and the Center for Education & Career Opportunities.

Who Can Participate
Young people ages 16–24 connected to an eligible King County reengagement program and interested in gaining paid work experience.

Program Highlights
• Paid internships at $25.30 per hour
• Up to 240 total work hours
• Summer work experience opportunities (June–September 2026)
• Career-aligned placements based on student interests and goals
• Ongoing support from a Case Manager and/or Employment Specialist

What Participants Receive
• Work readiness training
• Resume and interview preparation
• Workplace professionalism coaching
• Career exploration and exposure
• Support navigating workplace challenges and retention

Worksite Expectations
• Provide meaningful supervised work experiences
• Maintain a safe and supportive environment
• Approve weekly timesheets
• Communicate attendance or performance concerns promptly
